It is one heck of an ambitious project. To create a micro Big Bang and see what actually happened when the universe was born. How does antimatter vanish? How many dimensions are there? Where does mass come from? Higgs boson exists or not. Several other questions. I think it is a rare opportunity for all of us to witness such a fundamental research and that too at this grand a scale. I am waiting with bated breath for the conclusions to come forward.
The sheer scale of this project is mid boggling. The audacity shows that how desperate we are to unlock the ways of nature. Then there is THE GRID. The whole project is just awesome not only in entirety but even in its minutiae. Americans are sore about the fact that Europe has taken the lead and left them behind. I say, who cares, really. If you did not do it, fine, now look at what is going to happen and consider that if we could discover how big bang happened, how the world was made, what we live in, it will be enthralling. This is one of those experiments which humbles mankind if it succeeds.
