1. Resistance – Steven Pressfield highlighted the term resistance caused by a fear or self doubt to attain that which we have dreamt of. This resistance results in a shrinking from doing the work, in making excuses, in running away. And that is the biggest brick wall I face personally on a day to day basis. The lack of motivation and an abundance of resistance to do that which I love and desire to do conceptually!

2. Regret: Resistance begets regret. When I fail to do a thing, I regret not having done it. As simple as that. All cause of misery starts with the the though ‘if only I had…’ and resistance causes me to not do stuff which end up being translated into regrets

3. Focus: I think that for me, resistance comes up when I lose focus. I tend to do 20 things at a time and this has me running from one to another where, in the end, I savor nothing and am left bitter. I am dissatisfied at not having anything done properly!

I feel that’s 100% true. Although there is a growing conversation about India all aorund, most of it comes from an outside perspective which tends to paint the picture as either too rosy or too bleak. The ground realities could probably be best assessed by people who are on the ground and seeing things firsthand. We need to develop high intensity indigenous intellectual dialogues about where we have been, where we are and where we are headed. Doing this ground work would not only help us to get out of the colonial mentality that we seem to be trapped in, but also enable us to be more participative on the global front as a unique, forceful and original voice.

It is the (sort of bucket) list of things to do before/when I turn 30 (which is a looooong time to come but still….).

 0. Become an expert in one mathematical and one economics topic

– No becoming of an expert

 1. Learn to play one music instrument

– No learning of an instrument, just plain enjoyment of the music

 2. Learn one Indian and one foreign language

– No learning of a language, just plain hindi poetry and English books..no francois or german or Italian L

 3. Master at least one racquet sport

– Still at the same level as before

 4. Read at least 100 books

– Yup!! Yay!!

 5. Lose 10 kg of weight (This should happen in the next 6 months but oh well!)

– Lost some (3-4 Kgs) but not 10 L

 6. Earn comfortably

– Not too comfortable but its okayish comfortable

 7. Go abroad at least once

– Did that finally after so long – visited US (Richmond)

 8. Do one significant, life changing, meaningful charitable work

– I have since changed my opinions about charity and changing the world K

 9. Go on one roadtrip

–Did too. I went to NY/NJ all by myself, driving all the way. It was fantastic!

 10. Buy a digital SLR camera

– Bought no SLR but did get a Sony Cybershot point and shoot with pretty good specs – good enough for beginner photography

 11. Buy a 4 wheeler (preferably an open jeep)

– Yay!! Bought a 4 wheeler – Maruti Suzuki Alto! No open jeep that but a cute little car of mine

 12. Write something

– Did write something – a couple of poems in Hindi! Nothing very major but its something 

So, I have struck off 6 out of 13. Not bad. Completing nearly 50% of the list in one and a half years is not bad at all. And of these, some are the things i feel good about. So that’s nice. This year it is going to be another long list for the time till I turn 30. It would be a major list too. Life changing and all but I am all excited to strike things off it.

Steve Jobs is no more among us. He left this world. This day needs to be marked because it brings the end of a man who was a major instrument in creating the technological advancements we live with today.  A man who was a visionary. A man who was a thought leader with a passion to execute. A man who lived his entire life with the philosophy of being the best one could be. A man who was always ready to push boundaries. A man who inspired generations of tech entrepreneurs. A man who showed how much more life could be if lived with passion and dedication. A man who thought differently and boldly. A man who defied expectations. But above all, a man who was unique as a leader and will be missed by the entire world.

May his family find peace !

She is gorgeous. Beautiful and healthy hair, great long legs, superb figure and face to match. On the show, she is the main protagonist and gets to wear first fashion – the world’s best fashion. Already a favorite of the Armanis, Guccis and all.

But that’s not what gets me jealous at all. It’s the fact that she is now a girlfriend of Leonardo DiCaprio. That’s why. I did not even know or realize that I liked Leo so much unless I figured that on reading that Blake was dating him I felt jealous of her or at least wishing I was in her place. Strange!! Weird! Good for her. Some people are indeed lucky in life.
